Medical Use of Nolvadex (Tamoxifen)
Primary Use:
-
Treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in both premenopausal and postmenopausal women.
-
Breast cancer prevention in high-risk patients.
How it works:
-
It blocks estrogen receptors in breast tissue, preventing estrogen from fueling the growth of cancer cells.
-
It can act as an estrogen antagonist in breast tissue but may act like estrogen in other parts of the body (like the liver and uterus).
Medical Dosage:
-
Typically 20–40 mg daily, depending on treatment goals.
-
Taken for 5+ years in some breast cancer treatment plans.
🔸 Use in Bodybuilding & Steroid Cycles
Why it’s used:
-
To prevent or treat gynecomastia (man-boobs) caused by high estrogen levels after or during a steroid cycle.
-
As part of Post-Cycle Therapy (PCT) to help restore natural testosterone production after a cycle of anabolic steroids.
Common PCT Protocol with Nolvadex:
-
Start: 2–3 days after your last oral steroid dose, or ~2 weeks after your last long-acting injectable.
-
Dosage:
-
Week 1–2: 40 mg/day
-
Week 3–4: 20 mg/day
-
Can also be stacked with Clomid (Clomiphene) or other PCT support for better recovery.
